Southern Louisiana has experienced the heartbreaking tragedy of a Cat-5 Hurricane named Katrina.

We all did what we could to protect ourselves and our families from the storm, and by and large were successful. So many people weren't as lucky, if you can consider the total loss of property "lucky."

However, the Republican majority in Washington D.C., sabotaged our infrastructure years before we knew what was coming. Their dereliction of duty, to provide civil services as required, qualifies the Republican majority for immediate replacement.

Louisiana has accepted the call in Iraq, by sending our National Guard, thereby weakening their ability as first responders to our state. Bush repaid Louisiana's dedication in Iraq, by staying on vacation and riding his bicycle. However, he did cancel a previous vacation to sign a bill for Terri Schiavo.

Stacey Tallitsch, who lives in Metairie, LA, lost almost everything. The home was flooded and roof torn off, destroying all the contents. But, this tragedy has only strengthened Stacey's resolve to rebuild a better Louisiana.

While we rebuild our homes and businesses, we must consider long and hard the consequences of those Republicans who failed us so badly.

The United States can move an entire Army around the world in 24 hours, yet, cannot respond with helping it's own in a week?

This is unacceptable!

We can do better. We can take care of our own first, before we send troops into a war of profit for Oil-Barons. We can protect ourselves from the strongest of hurricanes, at the price of the landing gear of the B-1 bomber. We can use our compassion for more than a political slogan. And, we can reject right-wing mythology from media vipers with their poison tongues whose first reaction is to blame the victims.

Quite simply, the Republican leadership in Washington cravenly blamed the states for their own incompetence.

The Republicans have done nothing for Louisiana except offer slanderous rhetoric, cruel and inhuman self-pontification and a refusal to accept responsibility for their actions.

We can do better!

It's time for Louisiana to do unto them, what they have done to us. It's time to throw Republicans in Congress out on the street.
