Has anyone noticed where Bobby Jindal is? No?
It’s so very strange that a newly elected Representative of Louisiana would act so vaporous, especially with all the whoopla of being the first freshman nominated to “Assistant Majority Whip.”
Could it be in the two years he’s had to represent the people of Louisiana he’s done nothing for Louisiana?
If that’s true, than what has he been doing?
The simple answer is his job. Wait, Isn’t it his job to represent the people of Louisiana?
Silly Rabbit, Bobby Jindal’s job is to do the bidding of Majority Leader Tom “I am the government” DeLay. (DeLay has been correctly called the “most corrupt politician to serve in Washington”) In that respect, Bobby Jindal has done amazing things, not for Louisiana, but for Sugarland, Texas.
Very shortly, Bobby Jindal is going to tell people he should be re-elected so he “can continue the important job that he started…” Unfortunately for those living Louisiana, that job has nothing to do with them.
Believe it or not, this may be a good thing. Bobby Jindal was so inspired by DeLay’s form of Christianity; he was instrumental in passing a law in the U.S House of Representatives to prolong the suffering of Terry Schiavo.
That’s “compassionate conservatism” in action folks.
Do we really need Bobby Jindal interfering in our personal lives, or with the lives of our family?
If we can’t trust him with life or death issues, how can we trust him to represent us at all?
It’s become quite clear, Bobby Jindal does what’s good for Bobby Jindal.

Cindy Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son Casey was killed in Iraq in April 2004, has pitched a tent on the side of a country road that leads to the president’s ranch and refuses to go away until he speaks to her.
Cindy Sheehan has become a symbol, but what that symbol is depends largely on who you talk to. To anti-war protesters, she’s a Rosa Parks. To the “support the troops” neo-conservatives she’s a crazy woman sleeping in a ditch. To the DLC she’s an embarrassment. To the families of dead and wounded soldiers from Iraq, she’s a hero.
None of these symbols matter very much to George W. Bush. To him, Sheehan represents the most feared and foul of symbols to this administration…the question mark.
“I was just fed up. When the 14 Marines were killed, and when George Bush said again that they died for a noble cause, and he said we have to complete the mission by honoring the sacrifices of the fallen heroes, that was it, I just was so enraged,” Sheehan said in an interview with Reuters.
“If it’s such a noble cause, why aren’t his daughters over there?”
A valid question and what is the Republican media’s response to that pointed truth?
To paraphrase:
“Really, how dare this woman question his most infallibleness? How dare she presume to think HE works for HER? That’s a violation of the God ordained order of things.”
“Such pagan ideology is at best apocryphal, or worse, heretical.”
“What does she think this is…a democracy? Just because she dedicated over 20 years of her life to raise this boy, giving birth and nurturing his life to love God and country, does that give her the right to question our God-man President? Doesn’t she know that Bush came to save us from our sins?”
Apparently not, and good for her.
As for my part and for Bush’s refusal to meet with her, I make no plea to our not-so-fearless leader in changing his mind to meet with Cindy Sheehan. (As if it would make a difference anyway.)
It should be remembered that just a few months ago, Bush interupted his vacation and went back to DC to sign a bill into law for Terry Schiavo, but today the boy-king can’t stop riding his bicycle long enough to meet with Cindy Sheehan waiting on his doorstep.
Republicans are their own worst enemy, so its a good idea never interrupt them while they’re making a mistake.

Looking at the Texas standoff between our not-so-fearless leader, and Cindy Sheehan, I can’t help be remember of another standoff not far from the Crawford Compound, in Waco, Texas.
David Koresh, the leader of the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, thought he was an angel and an agent of God.

The government thought he was a gun-hoarding criminal who physically and sexually abused the several children he fathered with his followers.
And although Koresh died with almost 80 of his followers in a fire during an FBI assault on their compound twelve years ago, the spirit of the apocalyptic utopian lives on in Crawford, Texas. (At least during half of Bush’s term, AKA “vacation time”)
The difference between Bush and Koresh is huge, at least in situation, but both appear to suffer from the same malfunction.
•Koresh used sleep deprivation and other perverse methods to dominate and control people.
•Bush has used sleep deprivation and other perverse methods at Gitmo & Abu Gharib
•Koresh believed the world would end in fire, and for him it did end in fire.
•Bush believes the world will end in fire, and has access to the big Nuke’m button.
•Koresh believed the voices in his head were God.
•Bush has publicly said he believes the voices in his head are God.
•Koresh hid in his Texas compound while the American people waited outside for him to explain his actions.
•Bush hides in his Texas compound while the American people wait outside for him to explain his actions.
While differences to exist between Koresh and Bush, it’s not for a lack of trying.
•Koresh hid like a coward, and eagerly sought out the media.
•Bush hides like a coward, while media mercenaries on Fox and EIB radio do his dirty work.
•Koresh had sex with all his women followers.
•Bush has screwed everyone in America.
I can’t help but wonder, what kind of message Bush’s actions send to all those apocalyptic nut-jobs still wandering the planet, except “You’ve come a long way, baby.”

From MediaMatters.org:Pat Robertson, host of Christian Broadcasting Network’s The 700 Club and founder of the Christian Coalition of America, called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
From the August 22 broadcast of The 700 Club:
ROBERTSON: There was a popular coup that overthrew him [Chavez]. And what did the United States State Department do about it? Virtually nothing. And as a result, within about 48 hours that coup was broken; Chavez was back in power, but we had a chance to move in. He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he’s going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.
In the 700 Club “report” Robertson is doing his tried and true red-baiting by saying how outrageous it is Chavez is dealing with Castro.
Never mind the coup that took place was at the behest of the United States oil barons and Castro was the only leader to help the democratically elected Chavez get his country back. Never mind that on Sept.11th, 2001, the day our democracy was attacked, Colin Powell was in Venezuela signing a treaty saying the United States would defend Democracy in the region, only to renege a few weeks later and supported the coup, opting for the oil barons over Democracy.
Never mind, the leader of the coup is being put up and kept safe by Bush and our tax-dollars here in the United States. Never mind, the oil industry in Venezuela, formally privately owned, is now part of the government because they were hording all the money and refused to share. Never mind that same oil industry used militants to capture people, use them as slave-labor and murder and rape at will.
Never mind Robertson himself, who typically leaps into bed with third-world tyrants, had millions of dollars invested (it’s rumored) in that oil industry and lost his shirt in the deal.
Robertson’s greed seems to have no end. He’s willing to sacrifice human life to steal something that was never his. He’s willing to sacrifice his religious beliefs and use his bully pulpit for revenge and self-serving goals. Al Qaeda would be proud. Jesus on the other hand…not so much.
Robertson and Bush are very close and hold many of the same goals. It should be remembered, Bush was only nominated in 1999 during the Republican primaries because Robertson threatened the RNC that the Religious Right would “sit out” the election, if McCain was nominated.
In fact, Roberson has no “church,” just a television set. He has no congregation, just an audence of little old ladies he frightens with apocalyptic fantasia. He has no “services” except mass-produced pan-handling to the most despirate and troubled by asking for their last dollar. Robertson then invests that money into countries run by petty despots, in his endless quest for gold, diamonds and oil, and doesn’t seem to care in the slightest the massive human suffering he inflicts on the poorest of those countries.
Roberson is no spiritual leader, unless your religion is tyranny itself.
Update: Posted by reef the dog on Daily Kos
Wolf Blitzer just reported on CNN that Venezuela’s vice president has called Pat Robertson’s incendiary comments about assassinating Hugo Chavez “criminal”. Well, seems like Rumsfeld agrees...
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, appearing at a Pentagon news conference, said when asked: “Our department doesn’t do that kind of thing. It’s against the law.”
Well not only is doing it against the law. so is advocating it. Okay Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, whatcha waitin’ for? Get him.

In the State Of The Union address on February 2, 2005, Bush set the stage for one of his cruelest of lies.
“One of Iraq’s leading democracy and human rights advocates is Safia Taleb al-Souhail . . . Three days ago in Baghdad, Safia was finally able to vote for the leaders of her country—and we are honored that she is with us tonight.”George W. Bush
State of the Union Address
February 2, 2005

Adding to the level of disgusting behavior during the State of the Union, the now infamous purple finger brigade organized by the freshmen congressmen Bobby Jindal, turns out was a complete farce. Little did we know then, they were simply using the wrong finger.

The wave of purple fingers, raised by dozens of House Republicans, was organized by Rep. Bobby Jindal, R-La., to demonstrate solidarity with Iraqi voters. In a letter to fellow lawmakers, Jindal said he wanted to display support for “people throughout the world who seek freedom.” – Associated Press February 3, 2005
The “freedom” Jindal was speaking about is the “freedom” to be ruled by a theocratic elite that has the authority to strike down any law not conforming to very, very, very strict Islamic law. Womens right to vote? Gone. If it weren’t so tragic, you could almost laugh at the Socatic irony of it all.
Of course, that was then and this is now. In just a few short months since Safia was used as a prop for Bush’s failures, Safia is not very happy with George W. Bush.
Safia Taleb al-Souhail said the United States, a crucial backstage player keen for a deal that meets U.S.-backed deadlines, had let the Shi’ite Islamists and Kurds in government do as they wish. “We have received news that we were not backed by our friends including the Americans. They left the Islamists to come to an agreement with the Kurds,” she said.Reuters
Iraq secularists denounce “Islamist” constitution
August 24, 2005
At least for Bobby Jinal, the purple finger served it’s purpose for his inaugural media exhibitionism. Now that Safia Taleb al-Souhail’s usefulness has been spent, we can now get down to the real business and the real reason our troops are dying in Iraq…of securing Bush’s oil under Safia’s country.
Who cares if we’re spreading Theocracy around the world and giving the terrorists what they want? A biography of one of the most influential Islamist thinkers of recent times and an influence on Osama bin Laden, Abdullah Azzam declares that his life “revolved around a single goal, namely the establishment of Allah’s Rule on earth.”
Apparently, Republicans think that’s the American way, right along with their other favorate past-time…using our boys’ blood as mercenaries for the oil industry.
It’s the Oil Barons we’re fighting for, by getting oil out of the ground for song and passing the savings onto themselves.
Score:
Freedom and Democracy – 0
Terrorist agenda and Oil Barons – 1
To deal with Bush, Bobby Jindal and Republicans is to make a Faustian bargain at your own peril. No perversity is too low and no promise is to be left unbroken.

From: Stacey Tallitsch, Democratic Candidate in Louisiana’s First District.

I’ve evacuated from New Orleans to the Chicago area, escaping Hurricane Katrina. The situation in New Orleans is very bad. I’ve received word from military personal in the area, a state of Martial Law has been enacted and most of New Orleans is under water.
While myself, and my family, are fortunate in regards to our safety, everything we own is gone. I’m not complaining, as I’m truly grateful for my family’s safety. However, a lot of people are hurting. Most of the 1.5 million people, who live in the area, are now either homeless, or dislocated.
What makes this situation even more tragic is that these problems could have been prevented. New Orleans was able to survive the category 5 hurricane itself, as was the intent by civil engineers, but was not able to protect itself from the ensuing flooding from rivers and lakes as they filled in the north and flowed south toward New Orleans.
What makes me personally sick, is the money that should have gone to New Orleans civil engineers who tried to prevent this “worst case scenario” from the Federal government, were cut by Republicans looking for ways to pay for their war of profit in Iraq. What would have cost the government a mere $71 million, (1/17th the price of one B-1 bomber) the American taxpayer and insurance companies will now be shelling out $8 billion dollars in reconstruction. But that’s only the beginning of what Americans will be shelling out.
It’s estimated as many as 80% of the 1.2 million homes are not livable and basic infrastructure like roads (highways are raised and are basically very long bridges) have been damaged or weakened to dangerous levels.
It didn’t have to be this way.
It’s just very sad, that in 2004 a lot of people in Louisiana were duped into voting Republicans into office over ridiculous issues like “Gay Marriage” when things that truly affected their lives were ignored by those same Republicans. In truth, that Republican ignorance has now come home to roost and Republican Congressmen are scrambling for media damage control.
The next few days by Republicans in Congress is as predictable as the morning sun. They will survey the area and promise to give billions to FEMA so people can get back to their homes. Then when the news glitz fades from New Orleans, Republicans will renege on the money promised.
Republicans have done it to 9/11 families, New York Fire Fighters, our soldiers families, Iraqi’s waiting for reconstruction, and Florida families affected by hurricanes. I have no reason to believe the people of greater New Orleans area can expect anything different from Republicans now.
To the Republicans their war for oil is far more important than the people of New Orleans. And the longer the New Orleans area is affected by damage, the higher the price they can post at the pump. Two major oil refineries are now shut down and the hundreds gulf drilling platforms are as well. To Republicans, this is like cash in the bank.
Even if Bush decides to drawdown the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (carrot), it too, is in crude form with no refineries to turn it into fuel (stick).
There is no doubt in the minds of most Americans; all of us are being gouged by oil barons who take advantage of human suffering. The tragedy in New Orleans will be felt by almost everyone across America, one way or another. By Republicans willful negligence to protect a vital port, vital oil production and collateral property, all of America (except the wealthiest 1%) will now be pinched.
The Republicans answer to this dilemma?
$5 a gallon, here we come!
The pattern of behavior is really starting to look like an engineered tragedy.

I would ask that you please do what you can to help the people of Louisiana get back to restoring vital service, as soon as possible. The quicker we can do this, the quicker we can stop Republicans from taking advantage of this human tragedy, that they in fact, are responsible for creating in the first place.

Letter from Stacey Tallitsch to ABCNews:

Dear ABCAs a hurricane victim and refugee, I’ve heard some pretty nasty things said in recent days about the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the media. All forms of bigotry have exposed their ugly heads and revealed a bias in the media that would normally hide in the shadows. So embolden have bigots become that John “give me a break” Stossel seems to have truly found his comfort zone.
Stossel praises the price gougers who come to prey on the victims of disaster. He says that by charging $20 for a bottle of water, they insure that people get needed water. If it were cheaper, it would all be gone, and you would die. He does not explain what happens to those who don’t have $20 for a bottle of water. But then, Stossel doesn’t give a damn about people who don’t have $20, or for that matter, civilization itself. His job is to sell out the public interest on behalf of corporate greed at any cost, so is paid over a millions dollars annually by ABC “News” for being a convincing liar.
It truly saddens me that at ABC truth, integrity and journalism itself, seems to have died with Peter Jennings. ABC should fire Stossel immediately, without reason, without compensation, human waste like Stossel needs to learn what it’s like to loose everything. Only then, might a sliver of compassion finally ooze forth from his vacuous heart.
Fire Stossel and save your reputation!

Shakespeare once said, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Clearly, it was old Bill’s poetic way of talking about the power of the media.
When was the last time you saw a crazy person allowed to carry a sword, or for that matter, anything mightier than a sword?
Enter “700 Club” televangelist Pat Robertson. According to Roberson, the devastation of hurricane Katrina upon New Orleans was caused by, (drum roll please)…Ellen Degeneres.
Last Sunday Robertson said that Hurricane Katrina was God’s way of expressing its anger at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its selection of Ellen Degeneres to host this year’s Emmy Awards.
“By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event, these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath,”
Robertson said on “The 700 Club” on Sunday.
“Is it any surprise that the Almighty chose to strike at Miss Degeneres’ hometown?”
Robertson also noted that the last time Degeneres hosted the Emmys, in
2001, the September 11 terrorism attacks took place shortly before the ceremony.
“This is the second time in a row that God has invoked a disaster shortly before lesbian Ellen Degeneres hosted the Emmy Awards,”
Robertson explained to approximately one million other crazy people.
“America is waiting for her to apologize for the death and destruction that her sexual deviance has brought onto this great nation.”
Robertson added that other tragedies of the past several years can be linked to Degeneres’ growing national prominence.
September, 2003, for example, is both the month that her talk show debuted and when insurgents first gained a foothold in Iraq following the successful March invasion.
“Now we know why things took a turn for the worse,”
In order to avoid further tragedy, Robertson called not only for the Television Academy to find a new heterosexual host, but to bar all homosexuals and bisexuals from taking part in the ceremony.
He said employees at the Christian Broadcasting Network had put together a list of 283 nominees, presenters, and invited guests at the Emmys known to be of sexually deviant persuasions.
“God already allows one awards show to promote the homosexual agenda,”Robertson declared.
“But clearly He will not tolerate such sinful behavior to spread beyond the Tonys.”
The time has long pasted that the FCC needs to remove Robertson’s license to waive his mighty sword around like a little boy writing his name in the snow.
